Hello, welcome to ATLPhotography. We are Alex & Samantha Chiu and we are creative minds who want to create awesome photographs of you. So we are a Chinese (Hong Kong Cantonese) Native New Yorker (Upper East Side Manhattan), and a Southern (Cajun) Redhead from Atlanta couple. We've been in a lot of places in the world and we settled down in Atlanta, Georgia (home of Coca Cola!!!) recently. Life is funny. We met while dancing Lindy Hop Swing in New York City and then as we travelled, danced, and hung out, we fell in love. Next thing we know, we are going around the world to photograph places, teach Lindy Hop Swing, consume wonderful food, and discovering life together. No, we're not hippies or artists per se. We're just a creative couple that lives a wonderful life together. Even better, we just had a beautiful baby boy in October of 2012. So why are photos so important to us? It helps us remember those great times we've had. It makes our lives more complete because we can see, feel, touch, hear, and taste those moments every time we glance at one of our photos. It preserves everything special about us for years to come. That's what we hope to bring to your lives. That's why we craft the story of you.
Hello. I'm Alex. I live an extraordinary life. I love my baby boy. I'm a full-time photographer, marketer, financial wiz, and computer expert. I've been a lot of places over the years. I've been on every continent except for Antartica, I've traveled to over 60 countries, I speak several languages, and I want to experience more. I take a lot of photographs. At first it was mostly snapshots but then I started taking photos because I wanted to capture important things in my life. I started delving into multiple types of photography and I also specialize in underwater photography. When I'm photographing people, I enjoy capturing emotions, their personality, and whatever makes them special. When I'm not photographing, I'm always involved in technology, trying to help people with their websites, with their phones, and with their lives. It's amazing watching people really getting a kick out of seeing you explain and fix their tech problems. I think that's also why I'm a marketer. I hate hard selling things because I was on Wall Street for a while doing just that. My clients love me for what I do for them. It's not because I'm the best, it's because I care about what they care about. I know them. That's also why I'm categorized as a wedding photographer. I make the impossible possible. While I take more technical photos than my wife, I'm also the one that thinks about what my clients want and how to get those shots. As a traveler, I've learned that preparation is necessary to success but there are times when no amount of preparation will prepare you for what will happen. In those situations, my technical side of me kicks in and I am able to take phenomenal photographs no matter when and where I am.
Favorite Activities: Travel to the ends of the earth, eat excellent foods, dance like I just don't care, and capture raw emotions with my cameras.
Favorite Foods: Anything that's got it's back facing the sky, chirashi zushi, very rare dry-aged Kansas city strips.
Favorite Drinks: Nespresso espresso - simplicity and caffeinated, Lagavulin 16 - the drink of resistance.
Favorite places for photos: underwater, in the dark, and inside waterfalls.
Hello, I'm Sammy. I'm the creative one. I see what other people don't see. I lived in the south, went to SCAD, then moved to NYC to find adventure. Now I'm back in Atlanta and living a new adventure with my husband and new baby boy. I'm a full time mommy, a photographer, an creative mind, a designer, and a great eye for what's excellent. I've traveled with my hubby to several places internationally and I take a lot of photos. I like to take photos of details, of people when they aren't looking, and those moments when people least expect a camera. I am the big picture person and that's why I like design. Design is one of those central things about life that you don't expect to be so important. A good design can make everything in life work well together. That's why I design the concepts for our company and make sure that we do things within that design. My photos are more artistic than my husband's. He always feels that his photos don't evoke the word "art". My photos on the other hand are specifically designed to be more artistic and give greater depth to a moment. That's why we work well together. I'm a creator and designer. That's what makes my photography so interesting.
Favorite Activities: Reading novels of travels around the world, experiencing flavors of different cultures, traveling with Alex, poking my dog, and taking photos of the things that people often miss.
Favorite Foods: SUSHI!! A great dry-aged steak, macadamia nut chocolates, and red velvet cheesecake.
Favorite Drinks: I'll have what he's having....or just give me a cold Coke!
Favorite places for photos: Out on the reception dance floor, outdoors with interesting scenes, and other natural light places. Things always look best more natural.
